and while we were there we wanted to tour the Samuel Adams Brewery. I am not a
fan of beer, the strange thing about that is I love the smell of it I just can’t
take the taste of it, but it happens to be my husband’s favorite beer.
Anyway, we made our way to the brewery at 30 Germania Street, Boston,
Massachusetts and we had a great time. It was here that we met the man that is
on the commercials, you know the one with the beard? That was pretty cool, and
the tour itself was interesting and informative. The tour took about an hour,
and then we went to an Irish pub not far away. This pub called Mr. Dooley’s was
the first pub to serve Sam Adams beer. We had a great early dinner there, I
loved the atmosphere.
While taking the tour we learned that a man named Jim Koch started
brewing Sam Adams in his kitchen using a century old recipe of his great-great
grandfather’s. It was found hidden away in his father’s attic, and this is the
recipe that is used today to make this beer. I find it amazing what people can
do when they really give it their all, who would have thought a simple recipe
lost in the attic would grow into something this big?
