traveled to Chincoteague, Virginia. A friend of mine and her husband love it
there, and they wanted to share it with us. If you have never been there this is
a beautiful, relaxing place to visit.
Chincoteague is a small town that is located in Accomack County,
Virginia and is best known for the Chincoteague Ponies. However, the ponies are
not located on Chincoteague Island they are on the neighboring island of
Assateague. Every year they have Pony Penning Day and then at the end of July
they have the Pony Swim. This brings people from all over to come and see this
This town in overflowing with small town charm, you can walk the main
street of Chincoteague and wander through different shops or take a trip over to
Assateague and walk through the Lighthouse. If you are looking for a place to
stay there are many small hotels, bed and breakfasts, and campgrounds that are
ready and willing to serve visitors.
This beautiful island also has many restaurants to choose from, ice
cream parlors, and miniature golf courses. If you are looking more toward and
fun learning experience the island also features three museums: Beebe Ranch, the
Museum of Chincoteague Island, and the Refuge Waterfowl Museum. You will not
find a shortage of things to do here.
